WORKSHOPS
THE ANATOMY OF EMOTIONS

FITNESS FOR THE EMOTIONS

Everyone knows how to train the body — but how do you train your emotions?
TriO is a program developed by Carsten Graff, based on the idea that a human being has an emotional body which, just like the physical body, can be trained to become stronger, more flexible, and faster.

THE COMMON DENOMINATOR OF EMOTIONS

According to TriO, all human beings are alike when it comes to the mechanisms that govern us on an emotional level. Therefore, TriO does not have a specific target group. Whether you are a leader, teacher, parent, friend, or partner, the same questions are essential:

  • How do I develop my self-esteem?

  • How do I find meaning in what I do?

  • How do I expand my capacity for presence and empathy?

  • How do I become better at building trust?

  • How do I create healthier relationships?

THE GOAL IS AUTHENTICITY

Many self-development programs try to help participants become more positive, open, or happy. But when certain “positive” values define growth, it often leads to artificial behavior.
In TriO, the focus is on developing emotional strength, flexibility, and insight — not on becoming more open or optimistic. The sole aim is to become more conscious of how you use and develop your emotional resources.

THE TriO MODEL

The foundation of TriO is the idea that a person has an emotional body which, like the physical body, stays healthy through movement. In TriO, the emotional body is illustrated as a simple cell with a membrane and a nucleus.

  • The surroundings of the cell represent a person’s relationships.

  • The membrane defines one’s ability to set boundaries and interact with others.

  • The inner life of the cell represents a person’s qualities, potentials, shadow sides, and emotional capacity.

Lectures

The Membrane: Boundaries, empathy, and the ability to open, close, and exchange emotionally.

The Surroundings: Relationships, emotional distance from others, as well as the dynamics and exchanges that take place on a relational level.

The Core: The inner life, resources, talents, shadow sides, openness, and emotions.

FOCUS ON HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS
It can always be debated what fundamentally makes a relationship healthy or unhealthy.
In TriO, a healthy relationship is seen as one in which two people are connected in a way that allows them to keep developing and learning about themselves and each other.
When people have healthy relationships, it becomes easier for them to motivate and inspire one another — to create balance, avoid misunderstandings, and move in and out of relationships without leaving behind emotional noise.

PARTICIPATION
Graff has conducted around 200 TriO courses and primarily offers them by request from companies or groups.
